A Word to the Wise in Tuscaloosa About Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom-tooth

Do you still have your third molars, or “wisdom teeth”? Or have they been removed? You may wonder why we have them if they’re just going to come out anyway.

Good question! The fact is that modern humans don’t use our wisdom teeth as much as we once did when our diet was much more primitive. And with less need for wisdom teeth, there’s a greater risk for problems. They may come in crooked and crowd your other teeth. They’re much harder to clean and more prone to cavities and infection. If they don’t have room to come in all the way, or come in at all, then they’re partially or fully impacted.

When this happens, then the wisdom teeth generally need to be extracted, so contact your Tuscaloosa dentist right away. We’re here to make the experience as comfortable and relaxing as possible.

If you’re having pain or problems with your wisdom teeth, call our Tuscaloosa dental office at 205.210.4507 so that Dr. Diaz can evaluate your situation. We may also be able to tell if you’re likely to have problems in the future, so if it’s time for a checkup, call us!
